B.C. Lions – BCFC Players of the Week

B.C. Lions BCFC Offensive Player of the Week

Scott Salling – Receiver – Okanagan Sun

The Sun continue to shine as they finished off the regular season with a big win over the Rams to claim second place and a home playoff date. Playing a major role in that victory was receiver Scott Salling. Salling, who is in his final year with the Sun, had his best effort to date as he scored twice on 55 and 40 yard romps, two of the five catches in the game giving him a total of 161 yards on the day.

B.C. Lions BCFC Defensive Player of the Week

Jeff McKenzie – Defensive Back – Victoria Rebels

With a playoff spot on the line, this was, by far, the biggest game to date for the Rebels and both sides of the ball came up strong in their decisive 35-7 victory over the Air Force. Defensive back Jeff McKenzie picks up the defensive honours this week for his outstanding play racking up three solo tackles, a QB sack, a fumble recovery and two interceptions for a total of 19 defensive points.

“Lui Passaglia’s’’ BCFC Special Teams Player of the Week

Scott Dixon – Kicker – Vancouver Island Raiders

This was a big game for Scott. The game itself didn’t mean much as there were no playoff implications, but personally, it was huge. Dixon sent three punts and eight kickoffs down the field for 98 and 423 yards respectively, went 4 for 4 on convert attempts and added three of five field goals for a total of 13 scoring points in the Raiders’ 41-9 win over the Trojans. But that’s not all. With those points, Dixon broke a CJFL scoring record becoming the all-time leading scorer in the Canadian Junior Football League.
