NIKE CJFL Players of the Week
Offensive Player of the Week
Tristan Jones – Runningback – Edmonton Wildcats
The all time rushing yardage record of 1,666 yards is in jeopardy in 2006 and the outstanding running back from the Edmonton Wildcats, Tristan Jones is well on his way to breaking it. In the annual Black and Blue Bowl between the rival Wildcats and cross-town rival Huskies, Jones ran the dogs defense ragged with a 349 all purpose yard output. Jones had 298 yards rushing on 28 carries, a 20-yard reception, and a kick-off return for 28 yards and even chipped in with a fumble recovery for 3 yards.
Defensive Player of the Week
Ryan King – Linebacker – Edmonton Wildcats
While teammate Tristan Jones was running all over the place on the offensive side of the ball, linebacker Ryan King was stuffing things up on the defensive side. King threw all he had at the Huskies by tallying the 2nd highest defensive point total in PFC history with 38. King flew solo all night as he amassed 17 solo tackles and recorded 1 interception for a 19-yard return.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Ryan Elaschuk – Kicker – Edmonton Wildcats
Ryan Elaschuk showed everyone why you never give up on a play. After missing a long field goal on the last play of the first half, Elaschuk hustled down field and recovered a Huskies fumble and returned it 17 yards for a touchdown. Not only did this play end up being the turning point in the contest, but Elaschuk’s 2 field goals and 4 converts helped round out his 16 point output for the day as the Wildcats defeated the Huskies 36-21.
