Football Canada Cup

WINNIPEG (FC) — Manitoba is looking to repeat as Football Canada Cup Champions in both the Under 19 and Under 17 age divisions next week on home turf, in Winnipeg.

The three other competing teams in the Under 17 division, representing Thunder Bay, Western and Eastern Ontario will all arrive in Winnipeg on Friday for the weeklong Tournament, being hosted by Football Manitoba. Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Quebec will be arriving on Saturday for the Under 19 division. This is the second consecutive year that both age group Championships are being held at the same location.

Athletes, coaches, parents and fans will be in for a real treat, with 14 games being played throughout the week at three different venues – University of Manitoba Stadium, East Side Eagles Stadium and at Canad Inns Stadium. Event passes for all competition dates including the medal round are $20 for adults, $10 for youth / students, with children 6 and under being admitted free of charge when accompanied by an adult. Day passes are $8 for adults and $5 for youth / students, with children 6 and under being admitted free of charge when accompanied by an adult. All passes can be purchased on-site.

Opening day begins on Saturday, July 8th with Under 17 Manitoba taking on Thunder Bay at 11:00 am followed by Under 17 Eastern Ontario vs. Western Ontario at 2:00 pm at University of Manitoba Stadium. The Under 19 competition also opens at University of Manitoba on Sunday, July 9th, with Saskatchewan taking on Alberta at 11:00 am, followed by Ontario vs. Quebec at 2:00 pm.

Under 17s will continue with games on Tuesday, July 11th at East Side and Friday, July 14that Canad Inns. The Under 19s will play on Wednesday, July 12th at East Side, with Bronze and Gold Medal Games being held on Saturday, July 15th at Canad Inns.
